The world-famous
Tropicana Resort and
Casino is located on
a 34-acre site on
the southeast corner
of Las Vegas
Boulevard (the famed
Strip) and Tropicana
Avenue in Las Vegas,
Nevada. Capitalizing
on its location at
"The New Four
Corners" of the
Strip and its deep
involvement in the
history of Las
Vegas, the property
bills itself as "The
Tropicana - The Way
Las Vegas Was Meant
to Be." The "Trop"
shares The New Four
Corners with the MGM
Grand, Excalibur,
Luxor, Monte Carlo
and New York-New
York megaresorts,
which have among
them more than
18,000 hotel rooms.
The
Tropicana itself has
1,871 rooms and
suites and boasts
one of the world's
largest
indoor/outdoor
swimming pools, as
well as a lush
five-acre tropical
garden. The casino,
which occupies
61,000 square feet,
contains 1,333 slot
machines and 35
table games. The
Trop is the home of
the Folies Bergere,
which is the
longest-running
production show in
Las Vegas (since
1959). The hotel has
110,000 square feet
of convention and
exhibit space, an
array of fine
restaurants, health
club facilities and
extensive parking.
The operating
strategy at the Las
Vegas Tropicana is
to exploit its
unique location by
focusing on the
mid-level
gaming business
generated by the
18,000-plus
non-Tropicana rooms
on The New Four
Corners. We also
market to drive-in
customers from
Southern California
and to the
convention and
tour-and-travel
segments.
